My Background

With over 15 years of strength coaching experience, Nathan has returned to the private sector after working in collegiate sports during his time in the United States. His work experience has given him the opportunity to work with a wide range of different athletes at different Power 5 schools where he was part of multiple NCAA National Championship teams in various sports.  Career highlights to date would be internships to full time positions at schools including the University of Wisconsin, University of Texas, University of Notre Dame, and most recently his head position at the University of Alaska-Fairbanks. These positions have allowed him to work with high level varsity athletes in all sports, as well as professional hockey and volleyball players; Canada's Women's National Hockey Team members; Hockey Canada; Rugby Canada; Bobsleigh Canada.

Nathan believes that the best ability of any athlete is availability. This means that an athlete is not only resilient to injury, but they are capable of maintaining a high level of performance during the course of a season. Testimonials from athletes throughout the course of his career will continue to highlight one are, he genuinely cares about his athletes. Their success is his success, and that is not only about what they can achieve in sport, but how they continue to develop as a person.

Nathans graduate experience has allowed him to develop the theoretical knowledge of the physiological and biomechanical demands required to achieve athletic success. His area of research focused on improving the performance testing which would better predict the ability of hockey players. His pilot study was conducted on the LA Kings developmental players and is the area he will continue to focus during his PhD work.
